Heuristic Play Basket

Heuristic play refers to the type of play and learning which uses everyday items from around the house as opposed to toys which have a limited range of function. Heuristic play items empower children to have freedom and control over their learning as they can decide how to use them. This sense of control and autonomy over their environment promotes greater concentration and deeper learning. 

Through these everyday item's, a child's cognitive and sensory development if further facilitated as they are able to further develop many skills such as problem solving, inquiry, experimentation, coordination, imagination, and critical thinking. As infants and young children instinctively use their senses to interpret the world around them, they are naturally captivated by the varied textures, shapes, and possibilities offered by heuristic play.
